Economic Consultancy
We face two recurring questions with regularity. First, what is an economic development consultant? The second question is why different municipalities and NGO’s would hire us. We answer this question based on the outcomes that we achieve and how we help these communities achieve these outcomes. The fundamental reason that muncipalities and NGOs hire us is because we have a deep understanding of quality of life metrics. We have a foundational understanding of what local officials and residents would like out of their community. We have a track record of helping city residents express their desires to their city officials and we have a track record of helping city officials legally execute on this plan. Often times our community leaders are not always fully aware of the trials and tribulations of the average resident. In these scenarios, unfortunately, we play broker and facilitator.
After we have established a long-term plan and agreed to a set of quality of life metrics, we enact that plan, steward it to fruition, and keep a continuous pulse on how the changes are impacting the quality of life for the residents. Unfortunately, not every municipality that wants to grow an economy has an economic development team on hand to make the required legal changes, conduct economic impact analyses, and facilitate listening sessions with the community residents.
At our listening sessions is where we hear the specific quality of life outcomes that residents want to see from our involvement. However, there are some recurring themes that come through our quality of life listening sessions. Therein, our programs typically help communities lower their overall poverty rate, attract in potential businesses and employers, boost overall land and real estate values, lower crime rates, and a general sense of vibrancy.
Every community has a special trajectory often not readily seen by them. Sometimes it takes an outside expert to help communities find their next growth trajectory and a higher quality of life.
